Artist Bio

I am Frankie Elouise (she/her), a trans-feminine multidisciplinary artist based in Mohkinstsis (Calgary, AB). Specializing in large-scale, narrative-based figure paintings, my work delves into themes of gender identity, societal constructs, and the dynamic intersections between personal and collective experiences. My artistic journey began with tattooing, where I co-founded a studio that offered a safe, inclusive space for contemporary, non-traditional work. While tattooing allowed me to explore my creative identity, painting has become the medium through which I investigate deeper aspects of identity and self-representation.

In my recent practice, I experiment with texture, abstraction, and distortion of figures to challenge traditional narratives of gender and societal norms. I explore the constructs of femininity, community, and capitalism—questioning how these forces shape personal and collective identities. Through distorted perspectives, I highlight feelings of self-reflection, loneliness, and chldlike wonder, often drawing from my own experiences with these themes.

Ultimately, my goal is to offer meaningful trans representation, prompting viewers to critically engage with their perceptions of gender and its intersections with broader societal structures. Through exhibitions, public art, and a focus on narrative-driven storytelling, I aim to spark thoughtful dialogue and create space for new possibilities of identity within contemporary society.
